📌 Main Heading (H1)

In the last two episodes, we talked about your Google title (Meta Title) and short description (Meta Description). Today we continue with the most important element on your page itself: The main heading (H1).

H1 is the large heading you see at the top of your website page. It's the first thing a tourist sees after entering your site, and it helps them understand what the page is about.

📌 What is H1?

It is the largest heading on your website page. The first thing a tourist sees after entering your site.

  • Not just a heading — it's the page's identity
  • Makes the tourist feel "I'm in the right place"
  • Helps Google understand what your page is about

📊 Difference Between H1 and Meta Title

Meta Title H1
In search results (outside site) Inside the page (within site)
Attracts the click Keeps the tourist on the page
50-60 characters 30-60 characters (slightly shorter)

📌 The Golden Rule

Your H1 heading should be:

  • ✅ Clear and direct — The tourist immediately understands what the page is about
  • ✅ Includes your main keyword — Shows Google what the page is about
  • ✅ Answers the tourist's question — "What is this page about?"
  • ✅ Different from the Meta Title — Not repeated, but complementary

📊 Example: Weak vs Strong

❌ Weak H1:

  • "Welcome to Our Hotel"
  • "Home Page"

✅ Strong H1:

  • "Family Hotel on the Bosphorus | Hosanat"
  • "Luxury Rooms & Suites | Best Accommodation in Istanbul"
  • "Boutique Hotel 5 Minutes from Historical Sites"

What's the difference?

  • Weak headings are unclear — they don't provide value to the tourist
  • Strong headings are clear, direct, and answer the tourist's question

🏨 Practical Example from Hosanat

On the Hosanat website, on the rooms page, we wrote the H1 as:

"Luxury Rooms & Suites | Hosanat - Bosphorus View"

Why is this H1 strong?

  • Clear: The tourist knows they're on the rooms page
  • Includes the keyword: "Luxury Rooms"
  • Highlights the feature: "Bosphorus View"
  • Includes the brand name: "Hosanat"

💡 Important Tip

Every page on your site should have its own unique H1.

  • Home page → its own H1
  • Rooms page → its own H1
  • Services page → its own H1
  • Each page should have a different H1

Also, each page should have only one H1.

📈 Summary

H1 is the most important heading on your page. It determines whether the tourist continues browsing or leaves.

Remember: A strong H1 = tourist stays on the page = higher chance of booking.

In the next episode, we will talk about photos and their importance in attracting tourists.
